A marketplace of innovations,
a community of innovators, a platform to support gender equality

While the world has achieved progress towards gender equality and women’s empowerment, enormous challenges remain and current trajectories illustrate how far we still have to go. Women and girls continue to suffer discrimination and violence in every part of the world.

Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world.

Providing women and girls with a life free of violence, equal access to education, health care, decent work, and representation in political and economic decision-making processes is essential for achieveing gender equality and will further fuel sustainable economies and benefit societies and humanity at large.

"Agenda 2030 is anything but business as usual. We need not incremental change, but bold change. We need an earthquake that will tilt the system altogether, because little and incremental steps will not give us the world that we want."
- Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Executive Director, UN Women

Innovation presents the possibility for accelerating gender equality and women’s empowerment by achieving more transformative results and in positioning women, girls and gender advocates to be more effective agents of change.

Achieving the SDGs, including Goal 5 on Gender Equality, will require innovative approaches and importantly ones that tackle underlying structural barriers and persistent challenges.
